Finally! The Google Chrome browser is available for Android (Ice Cream Sandwich only for now). It retains the sleek efficiency of the desktop version with easy-to-use tabbed browsing and a super-fast java engine. Most important of all, you can sign into Chrome sync and have available all your desktop Chrome bookmarks. I know, right!
And for those of us who are fat fingered and forever opening the link above or below the link we actually want: behold the magnified link tapper. Chrome enlarges a view of the link you have tapped so you can confirm it's actually the chosen one before the browser loads it. Lovely.
Chrome makes it easy to switch between tabs with just a finger swipe--like flicking through a deck of cards.
I've only been using Chrome for Android for a few hours and I'm already a fan. I have only a couple of small complaints. There's no Flash for one. I don't need Flash all that often but when I do, I'll have to switch to something else. I'm disappointed in this little deficiency but the pros still outweigh the cons. My other complaint is I can't seem to sync the open tabs from my desktop computer. I see this feature is available through Chrome sync but, thus far, I haven't been able to get it working. Perhaps it's a beta issue. Perhaps it's a problem between the chair and the monitor.
Either way, there is no turning back. The Chrome orb is now a permanent fixture on my Android home screen.
Chrome for Android is available in the Android Market.
